RISKING IT
ALL When they saw him, they worshiped him—but some of them still doubted! – Matthew 28:17 (NLT)
After Jesus rose from the dead just as He had promised, it was
gut check time for His disciples. Were
they with Him or not? Jesus had accomplished everything He had set out
to do. He had fulfilled every promise made; every prophecy had come to
pass. For some, the response was automatic – they found themselves
compelled to worship and follow this One who they knew without a doubt
to be the Messiah. But for whatever reason, others were not ready to
risk. There were lingering doubts and an unwillingness to lay it all on
the line for Jesus even though He had given His life for them. They had
seen the evidence with their own eyes, but for some reason could not
grasp the vision.
The resurrected Christ rightfully demands nothing less from us
than full fledged worship. We cannot truly acknowledge Him as Lord if we
do not bow in His presence and obey His commands. The greatest risk that
we can take is not to follow Christ wherever He leads us, but to avoid
making a concrete decision to follow Him at all. With Jesus, you either
give Him all you have to give, or you give Him nothing. |
