KINGDOM KIDS

Then he said, "I assure you, unless you turn from your sins and become as little children, you will never get into the Kingdom of Heaven .  Therefore, anyone who becomes as humble as this little child is the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven .  And anyone who welcomes a little child like this on my behalf is welcoming me."   – Matthew 18:3-5 (NLT)

Jesus has a real knack for rejecting conventional thinking and surprising us with a wisdom that is simple yet profound. The world that we have grown accustomed to places certain demands on us if we are going to achieve any type of status – level of education, family ties, the right connections, and other factors play a part. It is only by climbing up the proverbial ladder of success that we have any real chance of making it in this world.

The Christ puts an entirely different spin on this. He emphasizes the necessity for simplicity, even a child-like faith, for those who will lead in His Kingdom. It is not how much we know, or who we know, or where we have been. The real issue that concerns Jesus centers on how we view Him. Is the faith that we profess one of wide-eyed wonder? Are we filled with awe in the presence of God? Can we place everything in the hands of the Father, trusting that He knows best? That is what Kingdom Kids do.

PRAYER THOUGHT: Lord, I want nothing more than to trust you like a little child does. Give me faith.
