GOD OF THE
POSSIBLE Afterward the disciples asked Jesus
privately, "Why couldn't we cast out that demon?" "You
didn't have enough faith," Jesus told them. "I
assure you, even if you had faith as small as a mustard seed you could
say to this mountain, `Move from here to there,' and it would move.
Nothing would be impossible."
Jesus gave His disciples the ability to cast out demons, yet they
came across a case where they found themselves powerless to perform.
Jesus arrived on the scene and did what they could not do. The demon was
sent running for cover as the formerly possessed child found the relief
he was looking for. Confused and disheartened over their inability to
utilize the supernatural power granted to them, the disciples question
Jesus as to their lack of power.
What it all comes down to, Jesus explained, is not lack of
ability, but lack of trust in God. It is simply a matter of belief in
the God of the Possible, the God that knows no limits, who is not hedged
in on any side. It is when we place trust in ourselves that failure is
inevitable, but when our faith is in God we cannot fail to succeed.
Mountain-Moving, Sea-Shifting, and World-Changing are present realities
when our focus and faith are on God and God alone. |
