CLEANING HOUSE

"I baptize with water those who turn from their sins and turn to God. But someone is coming soon who is far greater than I am—so much greater that I am not even worthy to be his slave. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire.  He is ready to separate the chaff from the grain with his winnowing fork. Then he will clean up the threshing area, storing the grain in his barn but burning the chaff with never-ending fire." -.Matthew 3:11-12 (NLT)

      John the Baptist made it very clear – when Jesus came on the scene, things would be different! John acknowledges that he is just a man, a messenger from God. But now we have access to the Message Himself – Jesus Christ! It is through our relationship with Christ that we experience the power of the Holy Spirit to change our lives.

      How does the Holy Spirit change us? He gives us the power to become the person that God has created us to be. He fills us with a desire to fulfill God’s purpose for our lives and to do it with a power previously unknown to us. It is through our reliance on the Holy Spirit that we are able to get rid of our old self, with our sinful habits, desires, and actions, and become free to serve Christ and His kingdom.

PRAYER THOUGHT: Father, clean house in my life today and show me how to serve You in holiness and power.
