ANGER
MANAGEMENT My dear brothers and sisters, be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow
to get angry. Your anger can never make things right in God's sight. So
get rid of all the filth and evil in your lives, and humbly accept the
message God has planted in your hearts, for it is strong enough to save
your souls.
– James 1:19-21 (NLT)
Anger is seldom, if ever used in a positive fashion. Fury and
faith are not a winning combination. When we become angry it is often a
sign that we are losing control. And when we lose control it is
difficult, if not impossible, to focus our lives on the God we claim to
worship.
The formula for victory in this area of our lives comes from
having ears that really consider what others are saying, a tongue that
only speaks after thoughtfully considering what is going to be said
before a word is spoken, and a refusal to allow what is said by others
to control us. The anger that results from not reacting in the
appropriate way not only keeps us from connecting with God, it leads us
to live lives that are under the control of the enemy.
Rejecting anger frees our minds to accept the message that comes
to us from God. We must clear our minds from what leads us to loss of
control so that we will be able to hear what God has to say.
In His words we find the message of salvation. |
