NO ROOM FOR BOASTING

God saved you by his special favor when you believed. And you can't take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. For we are God's masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so that we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. – Ephesians 2:8-10 (NLT)

            When we placed our trust in Christ God gifted us with salvation. We did not reach a point of achievement, we did not climb up any proverbial ladder, and we did not become so righteous that God felt obligated to reward us. Everything that we have received through faith has been given to us wholly and completely as a favor from God. And what have we received? We have received the righteousness of Jesus Christ Himself. We now stand before God as His completely redeemed children. We have been given a relationship that before our initial act of trust could not be had. It is all given to us as God’s gift. There is no room for boasting here, it is all of God.

            When God recreated us as righteous beings He did so with a purpose in mind. God has gifted us not only with His holiness but with a desire and ability to live out the commitment we have made to Him. God not only gifts us with salvation, but empowers us to work for Him and His Kingdom.
