CHRIST IN
CONTROL This is the same mighty power
that raised Christ from the dead and seated him in the place of honor at
God's right hand in the heavenly realms. Now he is far above any
ruler or authority or power or leader or anything else in this world or
in the world to come. –
Ephesians 1:20-21(NLT)
It is hard to fathom what power, knowledge, and ability lie
behind sustaining the world that is, was, and will be. All of these
qualities are in the possession of Jesus Christ, the resurrected Lord.
Many seem to either miss or not comprehend the fact that without Jesus
the world would cease to exist. He has both the capability and the
desire to keep everything on track. The
one thing that Jesus chooses not to completely control is humankind. The
oceans do not choose their destiny, nor do the stars or planets in the
sky. But to humanity Jesus has given the ability to choose. Control, for
Jesus, is not something desired when it comes to the men, women, and
children of our world. Rather, we are given the opportunity to decide
for or against Jesus Christ. Why would Jesus allow this to happen? It is
out of His love for us that He allows us to be free moral agents. If He
tried to control us, love for Him would be at best forced. But in the
freedom we are given to choose, the choice that is made for Christ has
more value than it could possibly have if He chose for us. PRAYER THOUGHT: Jesus, I praise You for Your
ability to run the world, and Your willingness to grant me freedom. |
