GOD’S GUARANTEE

And now you also have heard the truth, the Good News that God saves you. And when you believed in Christ, he identified you as his own by giving you the Holy Spirit, whom he promised long ago. The Spirit is God's guarantee that he will give us everything he promised and that he has purchased us to be his own people. This is just one more reason for us to praise our glorious God.  – Ephesians 1:13-14 (NLT)

            The Trinity is at work on our behalf. Faith in Christ brings us salvation. The Holy Spirit is given as our indwelling companion. With the giving of the Spirit the Father guarantees that His final plan for us will come to pass. Hallelujah! To know that the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are united with us as we live to praise God’s Name is a source of encouragement, strength, and ultimate blessing.

            Assurance of salvation is given to all who trust in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. This security that God offers leads us into a deeper form of worship. When we are unsure of our status before God it is difficult to focus on living a life of victorious praise because we are not sure what tomorrow holds. But with the giving of the Holy Spirit as a down payment on God’s promise of an eternal inheritance, we are free to escape the bondage of spiritual speculation and center our thoughts and lives completely on living lives that are pleasing to God.
