SAVED TO
SAVE OTHERS All this newness of life is from God, who brought us back to himself
through what Christ did. And God has given us the task of reconciling
people to him. For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself,
no longer counting people's sins against them. This is the wonderful
message he has given us to tell others. – 2 Corinthians 5:18-19 (NLT)
Each and every one of us found ourselves in the regrettable
circumstance of being an enemy of God. Yet God, in Christ, reached out
to us and offered us an eternal peace. By removing the penalty of our
sin, God made it possible for us to be reconciled to Him forever. Once
we were on opposing sides, but through what Jesus has done for us, and
our acceptance of His sacrifice on our behalf, we find that we are now
on God's team.
The salvation that we experience is a gift to be cherished, but
it is also a gift to be shared. This message of reconciliation that God
has given to us was given not only to save us, but to equip us to tell
others. In fact, God has given the responsibility of sharing His message
of peace to all those who have been recipients of His grace. The
blessing of God's favor includes a duty to distribute that blessing to
those who are still in a state of enmity with God. We have the good
fortune to be God's peace bearers in a very hostile world. PRAYER THOUGHT: Lord, thank You for making peace
with me. Make me a minister of reconciliation. |
