WONDERFUL
WONDERING This salvation was something the prophets wanted to know more about. They
prophesied about this gracious salvation prepared for you, even though
they had many questions as to what it all could mean. They wondered what
the Spirit of Christ within them was talking about when he told them in
advance about Christ's suffering and his great glory afterward. They
wondered when and to whom all this would happen. They were told that
these things would not happen during their lifetime, but many years
later, during yours. And now this Good News has been announced by those
who preached to you in the power of the Holy Spirit sent from heaven. It
is all so wonderful that even the angels are eagerly watching these
things happen. – 1 Peter 1:10-12 (NLT) Have
you ever stared at one piece of a puzzle without having the benefit of
the picture on the front of the box? You see the colors, shape, and
size, but really cannot comprehend what the completed puzzle is supposed
to look like. The Old Testament prophets faced this type of a dilemma as
they spoke of the Christ yet to come. Often they did not understand the
words that God was giving them to speak. But speak they did, and then
sat back and wondered. For
those of us on this side of the Cross, we wonder not about what will
happen, but about what has already taken place. How could God do all of
this for us? What love, what compassion, what sacrifice, all given on
our behalf. Undeserved – yes – but gladly accepted. PRAYER THOUGHT: Father, thank You. |
